Teaching the AI your offer (AI Setup)

Your AI assistant is only as good as what you teach it. AI Setup is where you define who it is, what it sells, and how it talks.

01The two must-have fields

  • Assistant name — the persona your leads talk to.
  • Offer description — what you sell, to whom, and the outcome for the lead.

Until both are filled in, the AI stays generic. Everything else sharpens it.

02Your conversion goal — not everyone books a call

The AI's whole job is to move a ready lead to your next step, and that isn't always a booked call. In Personality, pick your primary goal for a ready lead:

  • Book a call — drives to your calendar / booking link (the default).
  • Visit a website — sends them to your site to explore.
  • Free trial / sign-up — gets them to sign up or start a trial.
  • Attend a webinar — drives to your live-session registration. Add the day and time and the AI can tell leads exactly when it runs.
  • Visit a location / event — invites them in person. Add the street address, city, and hours, and the AI shares them — e.g. "come by 123 Main St, Saturdays 1–4 PM" — plus a map link if you have one.
  • Share their number — the only goal with no link. Instead of sending the lead somewhere, the AI asks for the best phone number or email for your team to follow up on. Their details save to Contacts with their Instagram handle attached, and push to your CRM if you've set up a webhook. Pick this if you sell by phone, or if your close happens off-platform.

Your goal needs a destination before the AI can be switched on. A goal of Book a call with no booking link means the AI qualifies someone perfectly, reaches the moment they say yes, and has nowhere to send them — the most expensive moment in the conversation to fumble. So the AI enabled toggle stays locked until the destination for your chosen goal is filled in:

GoalWhat it needs
Book a callyour booking link
Attend a webinaryour webinar (or booking) link
Visit a website / free trialthe link you want leads sent to
Visit a locationyour address — not a URL
Share their numbernothing — this goal has no destination, so it never blocks the toggle

Turning the AI off is always allowed, and a profile that's already live keeps working while you edit.

Make your destinations agree with each other. If your goal is Free trial but your Curious leads link points at a booking calendar, you've told the AI two different things — and it will improvise between them, offering to book calls you didn't want it offering. When you change your goal, check that second link too.

Each goal asks only for what it needs — a website just wants a link, a location wants an address and hours — and a live preview shows exactly what your AI will say before you save. The AI never invents an address or time you didn't enter. Pick a goal, fill in its details, and the assistant stops trying to "book a call" — it qualifies exactly the same way, then confidently drives to the goal you chose. Set a workspace default during onboarding and override it per connected profile, and add an optional custom phrase ("start your free trial", "grab the guide") to control the exact words the AI uses.

03Turning the DM into your lead form

Under your conversion goal there's one switch: Ask for their phone / email.

Turn it on and your AI setter asks — once, after the lead is warm, and only with their OK — for the best number or email for your team. It never asks in the first message and never asks twice. If they'd rather keep it in the DM, it drops it warmly and keeps helping.

Whatever it gets is checked for you (a real-looking phone number, a real-looking email — not "call me maybe") and saved to Contacts with the lead's Instagram handle, profile link, and where they came from. So the record your team opens is a person, not an orphan phone number.

If you've added a webhook under Settings → Integrations, each captured lead is also pushed there the moment it's captured, so it lands in GoHighLevel, Zapier, or your own CRM without anyone copying anything. Same lead captured twice won't fire twice; a failed push retries on the next message instead of vanishing. See Integrations for the setup.

If your goal is Share their number, this is always on — it is the goal.

A number a lead volunteers is always captured, switch on or off. The switch only controls whether the AI asks.

04Two switches that change how hard the AI pushes

Both live on the Qualify tab, both are off by default, and both are per profile.

No money questions in DMs. Left off, your setter treats a money objection the way a good closer does: it asks one question to understand it before it nurtures. Turn it on and it never asks about budget, income, what someone can afford, or whether they could finance it. It answers the money question, says what your rules tell it to say about cost, and goes straight for your goal. Use this if money talk in the DM is a problem for your niche, your compliance, or your account's standing.

Free resource is support only. If you've set a free training, masterclass, or session link, your setter offers it by default to anyone interested but not quite ready, and hands it over on sight when someone sends your keyword. Turn this on and the link stops being an automatic next step. It goes out only when a lead asks for it, when a post explicitly promised it and they said yes, or when someone genuinely isn't ready and needs the context first. Then the conversation comes straight back to your real goal.

Use the second switch when the booked call is the win and the free resource is there to rescue a lead, not to be the finish line. A lead who sends your keyword still gets a warm reply and a real question, just not the link.

05The five tabs

Personality — name, offer, tone of voice, and emoji preference (none / rare / match the lead / frequent). Write tone the way you'd brief a new setter: "casual, confident, short messages, no corporate speak."

Reply speed — how long the AI waits before answering a text, from instant up to about two minutes. Instant replies impress some audiences and read as a bot to others; a 30–60 second pause feels like a busy human on their phone. The wait is naturally varied (never a metronome), and if a lead fires several messages in a row, they still get one combined reply after their last message rather than one per line.

Learn my voice — one click reads your own past DM replies and drafts a style guide (casing, emoji habits, favorite phrases, how you handle pushback) so the AI writes the way you write, not like a generic bot. You review and edit the guide before it applies, and you can clear it anytime. If the AI has handled most of your conversations so far, there may not be enough of your own typing to learn from yet — it will say so honestly.

Do's & Don'ts — hard rules the AI must follow. Good don'ts: "never quote a price in DMs," "never promise specific results." Good do's: "always ask what they do for work before pitching."

Q&A — frequently asked questions with your exact answers. The AI uses these verbatim-ish; it's the fastest way to stop it improvising on questions you get daily.

Playbook — objection handling: the pushbacks you hear ("too expensive," "no time," "is this a scam?") and how you want them answered.

Qualification — the criteria that make someone a real lead. The AI works these into conversation naturally and captures the answers onto the lead's record.

06Starting personas

Eight one-click templates (coaching closer, e-com support & upsell, agency B2B booking, webinar registration, real-estate investor, med spa & aesthetics, fitness coach, general DM closer) pre-fill the whole configuration. Apply one, then edit — it's much faster than starting blank.

07Where the AI's deeper knowledge lives

Facts about your program, pricing context, testimonials, schedules — those belong in the Brain, not the offer description. AI Setup defines how the AI behaves; the Brain gives it what it knows.

08Testing before going live

Roleplay with your own AI before real leads do: in the test playground you play the lead, and every message continues the same conversation — so you can act out a full arc (curious → skeptical → objection → ready to book) and watch how the AI handles each turn. Load a real past conversation to pick up where it left off, restart anytime, and thumbs-rate replies as you go — ratings feed the Brain and improve future answers. Nothing in the playground ever sends a real message.

09Teams: each profile is its own person

If you run more than one connected profile (an agency or a team), each profile is a real person — so their identity is set per profile: the persona name, booking link, tone / "learn from past DMs", and especially the AI voice all live on that profile, not on the whole team. Switch to a specific profile in the top-left switcher to set those.

"All Profiles" is the shared team view. It's where you set the things that should apply to everyone — your offer, Do's & Don'ts, Q&A, playbook, qualification, objections, and the AI model. It does not carry any one person's persona or voice, so nobody's cloned voice can accidentally become the whole team's default. (A solo account isn't affected — "All Profiles" is just your one profile.)

10Webinar vs. website destination

If your funnel books into a live webinar, set the destination toggle in AI Setup accordingly, along with your session schedule — the AI offers real upcoming times. If you sell via a website or booking page instead, choose that and the AI drives to your link. Leads who show clear buying intent skip the webinar path and get moved straight toward booking.
