The Comments inbox: managing post comments
Comments (in the sidebar) shows your posts and their comments in one place, so comment-to-DM funnels can be run and monitored without leaving SetterStack.
01What you can do on a comment
- Reply — post a public reply in the thread.
- DM — send the commenter a private reply. Platform rule: one private reply per comment, within 7 days of the comment.
- Hide — hide the comment on Instagram (spam, competitors, trolls).
- Like — available on Facebook (Instagram doesn't support liking comments via API — that's a platform limitation, not a missing feature).
02Automating comments
The real power is pairing this with flows:
- Comment keyword triggers watch your posts (or one specific post) and fire automatically.
- The "Reply to their comment" flow step posts a public reply — exact text, or AI-written in your persona's voice. AI public replies follow public-surface rules automatically: short, no links, no prices (those belong in the DM).
- The Comment concierge template does both: a public AI reply that keeps the thread looking alive, plus a private DM that starts the real conversation.
03Notes & limits
- Comment triggers fire once per user per post — a lead spamming your keyword doesn't get five DMs.
- Public replies are visible to everyone; keep offers, links, and pricing in the DM. The AI reply mode enforces this for you.
- If the same public reply text is repeated on many comments, platforms may throttle it — prefer AI mode (which naturally varies) or rotate your wording.
