Connecting your Instagram or Facebook account

01Instagram

1. Go to Settings → Accounts (or use the onboarding wizard) and click + Instagram.
2. A secure connection window opens — log in with the Instagram account you want SetterStack to manage and approve the permissions.
3. On success you're returned to SetterStack and the account appears in Settings with a health badge.

DM webhooks activate automatically on connect — incoming messages appear in your inbox right away, no extra setup.

Once you have more than one account connected, the Profile row in the sidebar's context card (top left) switches which one scopes the whole app — or choose "All Profiles" for the merged view. See Team & access for how that card works.

02Facebook

Same flow via + Facebook, with one extra step: after approving, you'll see a page picker. Selecting the Page is what activates Messenger for it — make sure you pick the right one.

03Account health

Each connected account shows a live status in Settings → Accounts:

• Connected — everything flowing normally.
• Attention / Reconnect needed — the platform connection has degraded or expired. Click Reconnect and re-approve. The notification bell also alerts you when an account needs reconnecting.

A disconnected account receives no messages at all until reconnected — treat the reconnect prompt as urgent.

04Good to know

• One account per platform per profile. Each connected account gets its own profile slot in your workspace.
• Your team only sees the accounts they've been granted access to (see Team & access).
• Each account row in Settings shows its own lead and conversation counts.
• Disconnecting an account stops messaging immediately; your conversation history stays in SetterStack.

05Troubleshooting

• The connect window closed without finishing — just start again from Settings; partial connections aren't saved.
• Connected, but the inbox looks empty — a freshly connected account can take a moment on first load; the inbox retries automatically. Only conversations with recent activity appear — SetterStack starts from now, it does not import your full DM history.
• Facebook connected but no messages — verify you selected a Page in the picker; Page selection is what turns Messenger on.
