Automatic follow-ups: your setter doesn't let a conversation die

A lead comments, you reply, they say "yes send it", you send it — and then silence. That silence is not usually a no. People get distracted mid-thread far more often than they decide against you.

Your setter follows up on its own. You don't switch it on and you don't build anything: it runs on every conversation the AI is handling.

01How it works

If a lead goes quiet, your setter reaches back out up to three times:

  • about 4 hours after their last message
  • again about 13 hours in
  • one last time around 22 hours in

After the third, it stops and marks the conversation stale. That's deliberate. Three attempts inside a day is persistence; a fourth is the thing that gets you reported and blocked.

Every nudge is written fresh for that specific conversation. It references what they actually said, so it reads like you remembered them, not like a reminder fired.

02Why it stops at roughly a day

Instagram only lets a business send freeform messages for about 24 hours after someone's last reply. Once that window shuts, the message simply doesn't deliver.

So the whole sequence is built to finish inside it. That is the reason the three nudges land closer together than you might expect. Spreading them across three days would feel more relaxed and two of the three would never arrive.

If a lead replies at any point, the ladder resets and your setter goes back to having a normal conversation.

03Quiet hours

For every other goal — your website, a free training, a booking link, a trial — the follow-up ladder runs.

05Getting more out of it

The nudges are only as good as what your setter knows. If they feel thin, the fix is almost always in AI Config:
