Broadcasts: message many leads at once, compliantly

Broadcasts send one message to many conversations — a webinar reminder, a flash offer, a "doors close tonight."

01The compliance foundation (read this first)

Instagram only allows automated messages inside a 24-hour window after a person's last message to you. There is no compliant way to bulk-DM your whole historical list on Instagram — any tool promising that is risking your account.

SetterStack builds the rule in: a broadcast only goes to leads who messaged you within the last 24 hours. Eligibility is checked when you compose and re-checked at send time, so a lead whose window closed between composing and sending is skipped automatically.

02Who else is excluded

  • Conversations a human has taken over (your team's live conversations are never interrupted).
  • Closed conversations and anyone with automation switched off.

03Sending one

  1. Automations → Broadcasts → New broadcast.
  2. Write the message and pick your audience — the live counter shows roughly how many leads are currently eligible.
  3. Save as draft (sends nothing) or confirm send. Sends are deliberate — there's always an explicit confirmation step.
  4. Delivery happens in rate-limited batches in the background; the history view shows each broadcast's delivery results.

04Making the most of the 24h window

Because only recently-active leads are eligible, broadcasts reward an active pipeline: run comment hooks and story funnels to open conversations, then broadcast while the windows are open. For leads whose window has closed, use the Ghost revival flow instead — one-to-one re-engagement follows different rules than bulk messaging.
